Soul Calibur 5, Release Date Hits Next Year, Patroclus replacing Siegfried!

Last month, we gave you an exciting news that the next title for Soul Calibur franchise was revealed by Daishi, and he “hopes” that there’ll be an announcement for this in mid-May. As of today, it appears those hopes have become a reality as Soul Calibur 5 has been confirmed by Namco Bandai on its Level Up press event that happened in Dubai yesterday.

After revealing other upcoming titles such as Tales of Graces F, Dark Souls and Ace Combat: Assault Rising, the real meat has finally been detailed; in which Soul Calibur 5 will have Hisaharu Tago as its Producer. While the details of it are still vague, we are lucky to hear that its plot will take place 17 years after from the timeline of Soul Calibur 4. Naturally, tons of new improvement, in terms of battle system and weapons, have been improved.

Just like what we predicted, this new SC title won’t concentrate on Siegfried as its main protagonist. In fact, it’ll have a new hero named as “Patroclus”, hinting that its still a male character afterall.

Just a refresher, the last title you can consider to be a part of Soul Calibur was “Broken Destiny” and it was revealed exclusively for PSP on 2009, receiving a mediocre response from the fans. Of course, we are hoping to see this fabled Arcade game of the early nineties to have a proper come back soon!

After the press-con, it was revealed that Soul Calibur 5’s release date should arrive on 2012. What do you guys think? And, this is trailer of Soul Calubur 5, let's check this out :
